Dry Vs. Dehydrated Skin - HERBES FOLLES

Dry Vs. Dehydrated Skin

Do you actually know the difference between dry and dehydrated skin?

Dry skin is a skin type, and people tend to experience dryness everywhere: from the scalp to the feet.
Dehydrated skin, however, is a skin condition which is not so constant and change through time.
Dryness and dehydration can be get better (or worst) according with the food you eat, the amount of liquids (mostly water & herbal infusions) you drink, the weather, if you use makeup or not, and so on.
People who suffer with dry skin need more butters and oils (protective ingredients), while dehydrated skin needs more water-based ingredients (like hyaluronic acid, sodium PCA or glycerin, which attract water to the skin).
This said, it is important for the skin to be fed with both “families of ingredients”, as each answers different needs of the skin.

Here are a couple of other things to think about...

1. Did you know that you should apply vegetable oils while your skin is damp, as this helps to lock in the maximum amount of hydration?

2. How are you cleaning your face? For these two skin conditions, an oil cleanser is definitely the best product option, as it is very gentle and it won't cause any dryness. Depending on the country you live in, tap water could have more or less minerals - so I also advise to use an hydrosol instead. There are plenty, and each offer your skin different gifts according to the plants you chose. There are some with very pleasant smells, so this is a very gentle product that I advice you to explore.

3. Don't be shy when applying your moisturizer: if you feel the need, there's no reason to apply it only morning and/or evening: if the weather is very cold and/or dry, if you are in places that use air-conditioner, if the wind is crazy wild,... there are plenty of reasons that could cause or increase dryness. Your face skin is much more sensitive than the rest of the skin, and it's always (unless you use the niqab or burqa, or... face masks!) exposed to the environment: it deserves A LOT of attention and care.

I'm also sharing with you the Instagram page of Paula Sá, a facial yoga teacher that has plenty facial massage videos: by increasing circulation, this practice will also help to get glowing, happy skin!
